Thanks for the thread it really is appreciated confirming QNAP have effectively dumbed down DLNA functionality as I've wasted so many days trying to figure out what had happened. Logitech was loaded with options and plugins and has a very ugly GUI. With my older Qnap this one and Logitech media server were the only one capable of dealing with online radiostations as well. However: no GUI on the QNap, but for several OSes you can download a program to configure minimserver from your desktop. MinimServer is quite fast, and has (very)customizable trees. I am very happily using Minimserver, after having tried the built-in DNLA, Kazoo, logitech, emby and the last twonky server that was available to qnap-users. I have installed Video Station and I created a basic collection and now I can see my videos using DLNA. So it seems that, by new design, the Qnap embedded DLNA server is a passive interface that can only publish what is organized and configured with the Multimedia Stations Apps. You have to create a correct organization and some collections with the Stations otherwise you cannot see video, music or photos with DLNA in a good looking and usable way. Only if you install the Video/Photo/Music Stations you can add Contents for them in Content Management panel and after you organize the files using the Stations app then you can see them with DLNA. I used dBpoweramp to convert them to WAV, this is another uncompressed codec & they then played OK.So, a Qnap support tech told me that this is by desing for the new Multimedia architecture in QTS 4.4.1. In my own case where I had issues with AIFF files, they were files that someone gave me & I believe they originated from iTunes. It might possibly be something in whatever your Synology UPnP media server you have (please tell me what it is) as that might have an option to enable/disable some codec types. I doubt very much its a Synology hardware issue, AIFF has played OK on my Synology, also see post above & many others in the past where AIFF plays OK. … do you think that there could be something slightly wrong with the AIFF files re synology but which would still allow them to be played via usb stick and portable player? I have no idea how sensitive these things are It has a free basic trail version for you try before buy & if you do decide to buy it, then its a one time for life licence that costs £23 / €26 Its has an easy access configuration web page & the browsing tree paths it can be fine tuned to whatever you want. Its is 100% my preferred media server, its so much easier to install with just the one software package compared to Minimserver. Its a much better UPnP package, it requires some basic IT knowledge to install, it needs to have the Java package installed & also MinimWatch software to enable the GUI (web page)īest for me is “Asset UPnP” (from Illustrate, dBpoweramp) has the full artwork display on the Naim app. Included in the Synology Package Center is Minimserver, this shows all the album art throughout browsing. Synology’s ‘Media Server’ included in the Synology Package Center is basic DLNA/UPnP software & does not show album art until you open the album, up to that point it only shows a ‘Folder’ icon. Welcome to the Naim forum Maxouma圆, you will find a lot of help to get you going in the world of Naim
